Phantom

Hey everyone! Welcome back back to another week of musical reviews. For this week, I have decided to review "Phantom of The Opera." "Phantom of The Opera" originated in 1986, but today, I will be reviewing the 2004 movie adaptation. This musical is about a phantom who hides in a shadowy existence, beneath a paris opera house. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, he terrorizes the opera house. He falls for a chorus girl in the process.

I have seen "Phantom of The Opera" many times and I am still enthralled by it. It was a visually stunning movie. The costumes and the scenery were superb and the acting was excellent! The music of Andrew Lloyd Webber was just outright amazing. At times, there was almost a bit too much going on, which I thought started to take away focus from the music, but in the end it had a good balance of both. I remember seeing this when I was very young and the phantom scared the crap out of me!

  1. Phantom of the Opera is such a classic that I have yet to see. There are many references to the musical in other movies and plays but I haven't seen it yet. Reading your reviews are always motivation to go and finally watch some of these plays and musicals.

  2. Hi Anna! This movies right here was one of the very first musicals I've ever watched. At first I didn't really understand why anyone even liked this movie till I was in high school. Growing up for some odd reason, this movie used to scare me, probably because the music was so dark. Anyways growing up I've learned this movie wasn't scary at all but instead it was a love story. It was a really deep movie however I liked the old one better. The new one wasn't as good as the old one in my opinion. Also, I wish there was a better ending :(

  3. This is actually the only musical that my friend likes! We were just talking about it. Normally he can't stand musicals but he seemed to enjoy this one so that's good. I really like this one. I've seen it so many times and I even have some of the sound tracks on my phone. It's a great musical to say the least.
